Do you like to create art the old-school way, with pencil and paper? Taking your drawings from sketchbook to the digital screen can be intimidating — but it doesn’t have to be! If you have drawings you want to digitize, but don’t know where to start — I’ve got a new class for you.
Digitizing your artwork gives you the flexibility to recolor your work, create variations on a theme, and rearrange elements of a sketch to create new and beautiful artwork in its own right. With the right tools and techniques, the possibilities are endless — and you can work smarter, not harder, by using the same artwork for patterns, spot illustrations, and customizing it for a variety of products, from wallpaper to wall art, stationary, and fabric.
In less than an hour, I’ll walk you through three different approaches to digitizing your work. By the end of class, you’ll know how to:
recreate and add color to a drawing in a digital drawing program like Procreate (and make it easy to recolor it later);
quickly vectorize and clean up a drawing for a sleek, modern look; and
scan & edit your drawing in Adobe Photoshop to retain the original feeling of the drawing.
Once you’re done, you’ll have your drawing ready in three beautiful, distinct styles you can go on to use to create spot illustrations, patterns, or any other project you’d like. (Pro tip: take those motifs straight into my pattern design class!).
Come join in on the fun! And don’t forget to rate and review my class — it helps me learn and grow so I can keep getting you the classes you need, and it helps others fine me. 🥰 See you in class!
